Sara Goya is an active freelance bassoonist and contrabassoonist in the Southern California area. She attended the University of Southern California and earned her master's and bachelor's degrees in Bassoon Performance. Sara has performed with many local orchestras like the San Diego Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Riverside Philharmonic, California Philharmonic, Redlands Symphony, and many others. She has also performed with such renowned artists as John Williams, Yo-Yo Ma, Isaac Stern, and Lang Lang, to name a few.
Sara has been teaching bassoon, reed making, and chamber music for the past 20 years at the middle school, high school, and college levels. Her students have earned top chairs in the California All-State and All-Southern Honor groups. Students have also participated in many local youth ensembles like the Colburn Youth Orchestra, Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra. It has been rewarding to help students reach their musical goals while encouraging them to be engaged learners and problem solvers.
