Materials & Supplies Needed for All Music Students
The program provides students with all music and books needed. Each student is asked to keep an organized music binder with which they will put their music in.
Below is a list of materials recommended for each specific family of instruments. Most things can be purchased at a local music store such as Rowland Music, Sam Ash and Nick Rail Music. Or you can buy them online!
ALL BAND STUDENTS:
-It is strongly recommended that every student has a 3 ringed binder with 15 or more sheet protectors every day in class.
-Korg tuner/metronome TM-50 (black colored) or another brand is fine.
-Korg pick-up mic is recommended to hook onto your instrument. (This will aid in playing in tune and on time.)

INSTRUMENTS & PURCHASES
South Pointe owns a number of instruments for students to borrow, especially the larger more rare ones. Students are allowed to borrow them, and will be issued an instrument providing that they take GREAT care of it. Please talk to your child about the responsibilities of borrowing an instrument.
For students wishing to excel, the quality of their instrument (including their mouthpiece) is very important. Please contact us, (the music staff at SPMS) when you are looking to upgrade your instrument, as we can be a valuable resource. Once a child chooses an instrument, purchasing a high quality instrument is beneficial.
We do not charge a rental fee for the use of our instruments in hopes that you use that money saved to give your child private lessons and will be able to make a donation to our program so that we can maintain a high quality musical experience.
