Katie Faraudo is an active freelance French horn player in the greater Los Angeles area. She performs with several ensembles, including the New West Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, Riverside Philharmonic, Downey Symphony, and American Youth Symphony. She has also performed with artists Andrea Bocelli, American Idol’s Katherine McPhee, David Foster, Christopher Cross, Brian McKnight, and Michael Feinstein. As a young studio player, she also has recorded for many major motion picture and videogame soundtracks including The Soloist, Bolt, Bedtime Stories, Public Enemies, Transformers (VG), League of Legends (VG), Ice Age 3 and Romeo and Juliet since moving to LA. She has attended several music festivals including the New York String Seminar, Rafael Mendez Institute, Brevard Music Festival, and for the last four years the St. Bart’s Music Festival.
Katie received her Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California, and previously a Bachelor of Music degree from the Mannes College of Music in New York City. Her main musical mentors include Jim Thatcher, 1st Horn of the Hollywood recording industry, and the late Rainier DeIntinis, a former member of the New York Philharmonic. At USC, she was a member of the Thornton scholarship brass quintet and was also the recipient of the Vincent DeRosa Scholarship award.
Katie first discovered her passion for teaching through her experiences with the Horn Squad, an outreach-based horn quartet that traveled to New Orleans in 2007 to perform for and inspire students impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Since then, she has maintained an active and diverse teaching studio and has really enjoyed working with the young musicians at South Pointe!
