Daniel Lawlor is a trombonist based in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating from Northwestern University, Daniel returned to California as an active performer, recording artist, and educator in San Diego and Los Angeles. He has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, and is currently a member of the Disneyland Band. Daniel is also a founding member and project manager of Skinny Lips and the Sound Malfunction–a trombone quartet sharing new music and stories with diverse audiences in interactive concert experiences.
Daniel also has a passion for guiding young musicians in their musical endeavors; teaching chamber music, large ensemble, and private lessons in Southern California since 2011. Daniel’s students have earned positions in the SCSBOA All-Southern Honor Groups and CBDA All-State Honor Groups and have gone on to study music at universities across the country, including University of Redlands, CU Boulder, and Northwestern University. Daniel has studied with Michael Mulcahy, Peter Ellefson, Timothy Higgins, and also with Mark Lawrence while obtaining his Master’s degree at the Colburn School in Los Angeles.
